Factory Made
The Factory is back, baby! Over the past decade The Factory has manifested in myriad Phoenix iterations, including a stint in Museum of Museums (RIP). Last year, founder Timothy Rysdyke returned the gallery to its site of origin: a Warholesque, second-story loft at the Pound Arts building (a Capitol Hill hub for artists and artist-run galleries since 1988). Both February and March shows are must-see material, the first featuring work by Morgan Peterson, season 4 star of the glassblowing reality show, Blown Away. For her exhibit "God" Save the Queens (Feb. 13-March 8), Peterson presents a series of blown glass mirrors and cameo portraits of Seattle drag queens, including local stars Stacey Starstruck, Bosco, Jessica Marie Mercy, and Jane Don’t. On March 13 Amanda James Parker offers Stuck on U, a reimagining of the iconic magnetic poetry strips that have adorned refrigerators since the ‘90s. Going super-largescale and subversive (both trademarks of Parker’s suggestive wit and material dexterity), Stuck on U will be an interactive installation wherein guests are invited to spell out all flavor of poetic desire—salacious, Freudian, whatever—in bold text across gallery walls.
